Welcome to Westmount Elementary Admissions

Thank you for considering Westmount Charter School’s Elementary Campus.  Each Kindergarten to Grade 4 applicant is considered with great care. Please explore the information in this section to understand what we look for in our admissions process.

When is My Child Eligible to Begin Kindergarten?

Due to amendments in the School Act made by the provincial government, children can start kindergarten in the fall of 2020 if they turn 5 years old on or before Dec. 31, 2020.

HOW DO I?

To apply to Westmount Charter Elementary (Kindergarten to Grade 4), you must first review this admissions page thoroughly.  Once you are certain that your child has all of the requirements and documentation required for application.  Click on the Apply Now button on this page for the Application Package.

We can provide that answer right here!

Our kindergarten intake is the largest for the Elementary school with typically 74 students distributed between 4 classes. If you are applying to Kindergarten, please make sure you have all of the requirements and get your application in with plenty of time to spare.

Grades 1-4 typically have only a few spots available.

We do not offer school tours at the elementary school.

Our goal is to provide you with as much information as possible through our website. If you still have unanswered questions, please email admissions@westmountcharter.com.

Westmount Charter School holds a list of psychologists who have provided psychological assessments for possible entry to Westmount.

Our students come from all over Calgary and the surrounding areas; you do not need to live near the school to attend. We have 12 school bus routes that provide transportation to Westmount at an additional cost to the family.

Tests accepted for application to the elementary school: WISC – 4, WISC- 5, WPPSI – 4, Stanford Binet – 2

Kindergarten to Grade 4 Application Process

It is important to review the Kindergarten to Grade 4 Application process below before you apply.  All information and forms necessary to apply may be found in step 3 below. We will only accept applications hand delivered to our main office.

To apply to Westmount Charter School, your child must have undergone Intelligence Testing (Psychological Assessment) with a Registered Psychologist.

  1. Read the application Process.
  2. Print, Complete and Submit the appropriate Application Package.

Application packages for the 2019/2020 school year are no longer available.

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2019/2020 school year.

Application for Admission, which includes:

  • Application form
  • Demographic Overview form
  • Parent Inventory for Finding Potential (PIP) form
  • Teacher Inventory of Learning Strengths (TILS) form (optional for Grades 1-4 and Kindergarten applicants do NOT need to submit). Should your child’s teacher not complete this form, it will not affect your application.
  • Preliminary Medical form

Additionally, please include Photocopies of the following:

  • 2 Photocopies of Psychological Assessment
  • Immigration Documentation (If Applicable)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • Social/behavioural assessment summary document (If any).
  • An IPP associated with intensive behavioural intervention funding, primary unit funding (PUF), or severe disabilities funding (if any).

**The office cannot make photocopies for you**

We will only accept applications hand delivered to our main office.

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2019/2020 school year. Unless prior arrangements have been made, we are not able to make exceptions to the application deadline.

Notification email: January 14, 2019

Applicants will receive a notification email either indicating that the initial review of their application has resulted in its discontinuation or that they are invited to attend one of the following:

For Kindergarten & Grade One Applicants:

A performance task evaluation on January 28 or 29, 2019.

For Grade 2-4 Applicants:

An Interview on January 21 and 22, 2019.

Those who do not receive this notification email by January 15, 2019 and have not previously been notified that their application has been discontinued, are asked to email applications@westmountcharter.com.
