Dr. Myra C. Hood announced as the new Superintendent of Westmount Charter School
The Westmount Charter School Board of Directors is pleased to announce Myra Hood as the new Superintendent of Schools effective August 22, 2022.
Myra holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on leadership for innovation. She has extensive experience as an educator including elementary, junior high and high school principal roles, culminating in multiple awards, including Canada’s Outstanding Principal Award. Her school initiatives have resulted in dramatic improvement in student achievement. Myra also initiated a number of innovative STEM programs such as Robotics and Pre-Engineering, and expanded the Advanced Placement programs at her school.
As a strategic visionary, Myra’s inspirational, supportive and flexible leadership style have earned her the admiration, respect, and trust of her staff in each of her previous roles. Myra believes in the professional development of staff, and takes the time to build their professional capacity through individualized mentorship. Her professional experience, personal attributes, innovative ideology, passion for organizational growth, and business acumen will continue to support the unique culture at Westmount. Myra is committed to growing Westmount’s Inside Out vision, and our charter, while continuing a cultural ecosystem of excellence.
Much of the work of the new superintendent is to continue to cultivate existing strong relationships and forge new partnerships with other charter schools, College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS), The Alberta Association of Public Charter Schools (TAAPCS), Alberta Education and other external stakeholders.
