If your child has any of the following symptoms, not related to a pre-existing illness or health condition:
- shortness of breath
- runny nose
- sore throat
- or loss of sense of smell or taste
They are legally required to isolate per AHS:
- if not fully immunized – for at least 10 days from when they first started having symptoms of COVID-19 OR had their positive test (if they never had symptoms).
- if fully immunized – for at least 5 days from when they first started having symptoms of COVID-19 or had their positive test (if they never had symptoms).
Your child must keep isolating until their symptoms have improved and they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
If they test negative* on a COVID-19 test and continue to have symptoms, they should still stay home and away from others until their symptoms resolve.
Please read and become familiar with Isolation & Quarantine Information from Alberta Health Services.
