Dear Westmount Parents/Guardians and Staff,

Many of you will have seen or heard the official announcement today by Premier Kenney declaring that a number of communities in Alberta, including the City of Calgary, will shift to at-home (online learning) for all grades 7-12 students beginning Monday, May 3, 2021.  The shift is effective for a minimum two-week period.  Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Alberta Education will monitor the situation during that period and announce any change as necessary prior to the end of the two-week shift.

By coincidence, we were informed earlier today by AHS that the Westmount mid-high campus experienced a new case of a grade 9 student testing positive. All families of those students impacted have already received notice from the school about the requirement for close contacts of the student to quarantine.  AHS representatives will be contacting each of the families impacted with further information.

We fully appreciate the concerns that some families expressed about Westmount not requesting this shift to at-home learning sooner while other parents expressed gratitude that their children can continue to attend in-person learning.

Thank you all for your continuing support while we deal with challenging circumstances.

Respectfully,

Joe Frank
Superintendent
Westmount Charter School
