Westmount Charter School Transportation

Westmount Charter School is committed to the operation of a cost-effective, efficient and safe bus service for its students. It is a voluntary, fee-based transportation alternative provided for students who reside more than 2.4 km from the school. Stops are located within Calgary city limits only. Parents have a choice as to using this optional service for their children. 40% of our school population are riding the bus and 51% of our school population will be receiving funding for driving their kids to and from school as part of our parent provided funding program.

Route planning for the 2010-2011 school year will commence on May 1, 2010. All bus registrations received by April 30, 2010 will be considered in the route-planning process.

Whom to call regarding Westmount School Buses:

  • For delay inquiries and lost items, call Southland Dispatch 403-287-1335.

  • For rider behavior concerns, call Hal Curties in the school office at
403-217-0426. For policy, procedures and general busing inquiries, call Transportation Services at 403-921-BUSS (2877) - (9:00 to 12:00 daily) or email karen.shaul@westmountcharter.com

Westmount currently offers a Bus Communication system to our bus families. This is the quickest way to receive information directly from your driver if they are experiencing a delay with their bus.  If you haven’t already signed up for this program and would like to, click here for instructions on how to do this.  You can receive an email to your email address and/or your cell phone.  Please note that some cell phone companies do charge an additional fee for this service.   If you do not have access to email or a cell phone you will want to contact Southland transportation directly for information regarding your bus delay at 403-287-1335.

Are you driving your children to and from school each day?  Did you know that we offer occasional bus passes for those days when you can’t pick up or drop off your child at school?  This allows your children to ride the school bus 5 times/days and it is good for the whole school year at a cost of $25.  For more information about this please refer to the Transportation Handbook (see link below) or contact Karen at 403-921-2877. Please note that a minimum of 48 hours (school day hours) is required for these requests.

In addition to our School Bus system, Westmount is within close proximity of Calgary Transit Service bus stops. Routes 18,20,108 and 112 run on Crowchild Trail SW and routes 6 and 106 use the overpass on 26th Avenue SW; see www.calgarytransit.com for details. Students purchasing monthly transit passes are reminded to save their cash register receipts and expired passes for income tax purposes, click here for more information.

Have you considered driving a School Bus? Southland Transportation is recruiting drivers between the ages of 21 and 71 with a clean driving record, call 403-253-9322 or see the Southland website for more details!
