Transportation at Westmount Charter School

Westmount Charter School is committed to the operation of a cost-effective, efficient and safe bus service for its students. It is a voluntary, fee-based transportation alternative provided for students who reside more than 2.4 km from the school. Stops are located within Calgary city limits only. Parents have a choice as to using this optional service for their children. Approximately 45% of our school population ride the bus and 51% of our school population will be receiving funding for driving their kids to and from school as part of our parent provided funding program.

Route planning for each school year will commence on May 1. All full time bus registrations received by April 30 of the current year will be considered in the route-planning process for the following school year.

Whom to call regarding Westmount School Buses:

  • For delay inquiries and lost items, call Southland Dispatch 403-287-1335.

  • For rider behavior concerns, call 403-217-0426 for
    Hal Curties (elementary grades K-4),
    or 403-217-9427 for

Westmount currently offers a Bus Communication system to our bus families. This is the quickest way to receive information directly from your driver if they are experiencing a delay with their bus.  If you haven’t already signed up for this program and would like to, log into the Family Zone and click on “Bus Subscriptions”. You can receive an email to your email address and/or your cell phone.  Please note that some cell phone companies do charge an additional fee for this service.   If you do not have access to email or a cell phone you will want to contact Southland transportation directly for information regarding your bus delay at 403-287-1335. (To download an informative article about the development and implementation of the Bus Communication system, click here!)

In addition to our School Bus system, Westmount is within close proximity of Calgary Transit Service bus stops. Route 20 runs along 29 St NW (on the schoolyard side of the elementary campus) and continues on Uxbridge Dr NW, with a stop at the corner of Unwin & Uxbridge serving the mid-high campus. Other routes such as 19, 72, 73, and C-Train, also run within the vicinity of the mid-high campus; see www.calgarytransit.com for details. Students purchasing monthly transit passes are reminded to save their cash register receipts and expired passes for income tax purposes, click here for more information.
