Kindergarten Registration Procedure

Kindergarten is now over-subscribed for the 2010-2011 school year. If you still wish to apply, you may click here to download your Kindergarten Registration package.

The general Parent Information Night for Kindergarten was held on April 15, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Main Gym. Kindergarten application forms for the general public were then made available, online only, beginning at 9:00 PM on April 15, 2010, following this event.

Completed Kindergarten applications, including a copy of the child's birth certificate (and, if the child was born outside Canada, landing papers/immigration documents) will be received on a first come, first served basis starting at 9:00 PM, April 15, 2010. Applications may be submitted (1) by fax to 403.249.3412, or (2) by scanning and e-mailing to registrar@westmountcharter.com

Applications may not be submitted in person or in any other format; they must be submitted via fax or email only. Please note that applications that are in any way incomplete will not be accepted, so it would be a good idea to photocopy/scan your child's birth certificate/immigration papers well in advance of the application date to ensure that this does not delay our processing of the application. Although not required for registration, we do also request a copy of your child's immunization records, so it would be good to copy them ahead of time as well.

As with all publicy-funded kindergarten programs in Alberta, the birthday cut-off for 2010-2011 Kindergarten applicants is February 28, 2006. Children born later than February 28, 2006 will need to wait until subsequent school years to apply for kindergarten. Check back on this web page in November for information regarding the 2011-2012 Kindergarten information night, to be held spring 2011.

Siblings of currently-enrolled Westmount grade 1-11 students have first priority when it comes to Kindergarten spaces. With this in mind, siblings of currently-enrolled Westmount grade 1-11 students were invited to apply for 2010-2011 Kindergarten prior to January 15, 2010. Applications received in this manner proceeded with online registration at the same as student re-registration (late January-early February 2010).

Please Note: Children are not assessed prior to attending Kindergarten. Attendance in the Westmount Kindergarten program does not indicate acceptance into the Westmount Charter School Grade One program.
