WESTMOUNT CHARTER SCHOOLAt present, our Kindergarten classes are over-subscribed for the 2008-2009 school year.
PLEASE NOTE: the following information pertains to the 2008-2009 school year. Dates and procedures have not yet been set for students wishing to apply for the 2009-2010 school year. The Parent "Open House" dates will be set in November 2008 - check back at that time.
As with all publicy-funded kindergarten programs in Alberta, the birthday cut-off for 2009-2010 Kindergarten applicants will be February 28, 2005. Children born later than February 28, 2005 will need to wait until the 2010-2011 school year to apply for kindergarten.
Children are not assessed prior to entering Kindergarten.
1) Print application forms downloaded from website, starting 9:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, February 5th, 2008.
2) Submit application forms, child's birth certificate, immigration/citizenship records (if applicable), and immunization records, to Westmount Charter School. Forms may be submitted electronically (preferred) to registrar@westmountcharter.com, faxed to 403.249.3412, or delivered in person to the Westmount student services office, 2519 Richmond Road SW, Calgary AB T3E 4M2 beginning 9:00 AM, February 6th, 2008. Please note that forms will simply be date-stamped and filed when they are received; the actual reviewing and processing of applications happens separately.
3) Siblings of Westmount Charter School students receive priority - parents are to have these applications submitted no later than February 28th.
(Please note: this has been extended by one day due to a widespread internet connectivity issue on the morning of February 27th.)
4) All other spaces will be offered in the order the applications are received.
5) Once spaces are offered, in late March 2008 to co-ordinate with older sibling decisions, parents are to confirm their acceptance of the space by completing the online registration process, and submit a $100 deposit. Deadlines will be clearly stated when the spaces are offered.

In order to eliminate frustrating line-ups at the information night, 2008-2009 kindergarten application forms will be available online only, starting at 9:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, February 5th, 2008.
Please Note: Attendance in the Westmount Kindergarten program does not indicate acceptance into the Westmount Charter School Grade One program.
